PETRICHOR- (/ˈpɛtrɨkər/) is the scent of rain on dry earth. The word is constructed from Greekpetra, meaning stone + ichor, the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology.

Simply defined as the scent of rain falling on dry earth.
